Informa Connect is looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to support our Foodservice portfolio. Acting as a conduit between IT and Marketing centrally, you will be highly collaborative and passionate about business architecture and have an expert-level understanding of how data and marketing operations inform sound decisions.
This hybrid role requires expertise in SQL and ETL development, as well as the ability to analyze business needs to translate them into technical solutions to support the wider organization. You will partner with an innovative team to plan future data and operational needs, implementing solutions to optimize and manage our groupwide tech stack. Job Description
As the Data Engineer you will be a critical supporting role for the Data Insights team within the Foodservice Group of Informa Connect, responsible for becoming an expert advisor to our business on our data model and how to use it, as well as monitoring, triaging, and fixing data issues to improve data quality. You will also support data quality initiatives, maintain data models, develop reports and dashboards, and participate in data governance discussions. You will help establish and maintain standard data practices and governance.
Customer-focused to your core, you will help visualize the data to map out Connect’s capability and technology based on user persona, bridging the gap between strategy and execution, streamlining and rationalizing the IT enablement process, optimizing the customer experience from the inside out. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and data-driven, comfortable writing SQL queries, analyzing and interpreting results from various databases, and manipulating data to feed into reporting tools such as PowerBi.
This position reports directly to the Director of Data Operations & Digital Insights requires extensive collaboration with sales, brand and marketing directors as well as senior management across divisions. You will play a key part in synthesizing and creating synergies for the work of others, drawing from disciplines like business analysis, process management and operations to define the database and automation strategy across Informa Connect’s Foodservice portfolio brands.
Primary responsibilities:
- Database Operations & Marketing Automation:
- Work closely with both central development and directly with Director of Data Operations & Digital Insights, to ensure all optimal and new innovative practices are aligned and shared across the group.
- Assist the wider team in data integration projects between disparate Salesforce CRM instances and marketing-related platforms (Marketo, Eloqua).
- Master our data set as a subject matter expert and collaborate with stakeholders to uncover insights and amplify the value within the data.
- Your overarching goal will be to streamline all data and marketing efforts, to optimize and improve marketing operation workflows which measure effectiveness, performance, and ROI using various Business Intelligence tools.
- Participate in data governance activities, including maintaining the data dictionary and business glossary and documenting data lineage.
- Work on resolving data quality issues by developing immediate solutions and long-term strategies with the IIRIS (CDP) team.
- Business Process Operations
- Work cross-functionally to assist in weekly and monthly reporting meetings, ensuring operational excellence while you serve as a central conduit across business functions.
- Partner with the central teams to ensure data governance and alignment across systems and processes.
- Develop, monitor and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our marketing automation & CRM systems (Eloqua, Marketo, Salesforce, et al) on behalf of the Foodservice portfolio in line with Connect’s wider marketing tech strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required. 2-3 years’ experience in data analysis and / or database development
- At least 2 years of SQL development or programming experience.
- A "can-do" attitude, with a desire to extend existing skills and be a problem solver
- A mind that analyzes & seeks out opportunities to experiment with data continuously optimizing reporting to improve the way we understand our database.
- Exemplary organizational and prioritization skills – project oriented with an attention to detail.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; written, verbal, presentation.
- Advanced skills in SQL or any other data querying (including writing advanced select statements, stored procedures, and functions).
- Ability to work with databases, transactional data, and data warehouses (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake).
- Able to easily understand, create, manipulate, and upload XML, JSON, CSV and MS Excel files.
- Familiarity with data governance concepts, including managing data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, namely an expert in Excel and PowerBI, including pivot tables, data tabulation, data visualization and dashboard creation.
- Experienced with a diverse marketing tech stack, including but not limited to: Eloqua, Marketo, Adestra, Salesforce CRM, PowerBI, Google Analytics, data repository, etc.
