The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 4, G25, in the Windows Unit with the Chief Technology Office, Innovation and Engineering Services (IES) Section, the Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, will support Microsoft Windows Server Systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following: - Manage Windows server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022 versions, involving configuration of network and storage settings.- Troubleshoot Windows Server issues by examining Event Log data and reviewing network statistics, installing Roles and Features, and installing agent software such as SCOM, SCCM, Splunk, Stealth, VMware Tools, etc.- Manage and process work intake, such as requests, incidents, and change requests via the Service Now/ITSM system.- Work within ITSM\Service Now to monitor incoming incidents, requests, and change tasks. Submit requests and changes to track work that employee needs to perform or needs to have done for them by other teams. Document remediation steps in incidents for knowledge enhancement.- Complete request tasks, submit change requests for scheduled off hour tasks, and resolve incidents assigned to L3 DCH WIN.- Manage and provision Standard and Wildcard SSL Certificates through both internal and external certificate authorities, some certificates leveraging Subject Alternate Names- Administer Microsoft IIS by creating Web Sites and application pools, configuring them based on customer specifications and securing them based on federal, state, and internal guidelines- Provide detailed updates in work notes in accordance with incident severity and service level objectives.- Participate in On Call rotation with Secondary responsibilities, supporting Primary On Call staff.- Take calls from Service desk after business hours (7PM to 7AM) when Primary On Call staff are unavailable to remotely administer systems, to resolve P1 or P2 incidents while on-call and contact vendor support if/when needed.- Participate in Project work, coordinating tasks across staff and completing project associated work within established timelines; communicate effectively with project staff.- Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities- Participate in available training/tutoring/mentoring opportunities regarding updates to policies, procedures, or DCH-WIN supported software.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 OR in a position at G-21 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
