The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology Services 1 within the Public Safety Dedicated Agency, the position will include supervision and technical team lead of the Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) - System Support Group. Duties include, but are not limited to: Supervise a team of System Support staff within the PS Dedicated Support team, which supports 120 systems, built on vendor provided software and are hosted within ITS Data Centers; Provide end to end technical oversight for systems supported by the team, using a wide variety of knowledge of Operating Systems, Database, Network, Communications, and Application Services; Participate and supervise technical response for Public Safety Severity 1 systems on a 24x7x365 basis; Collaborate with software providers, architects, and business analysts, on the implementation of systems to meet business requirements, system performance, scalability and other critical quality measures; Mentor staff members, develop performance goals, and identify training and growth opportunities; Perform the full range of supervisory duties.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title in order to be list appointed.

Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
