Job Summary
The Airport Design Engineer will join our aviation team based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Airport Design Engineer will assume a pivotal role in the meticulous planning, design, and oversight of airport facilities, spanning from essential runways and taxiways to intricate terminal buildings. Collaborating closely with a team of seasoned experts, you will harness state-of-the-art design software and contribute to projects of diverse complexities, all while maintaining unwavering compliance with industry standards and FAA regulations. Your responsibilities will encompass the production of comprehensive plans, reports, and technical specifications tailored to airport improvement initiatives, predominantly within the realm of civil engineering. Responsibilities
- Perform civil design using AutoCAD Civil 3D for airport infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of senior engineers/designers.
- Conduct field work as directed by senior engineers/designers.
- Assist in various engineering tasks on projects of different complexities.
- Collect data and information to support design decisions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
- Create engineering models to meet project specifications and requirements.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with a strong focus on client service.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Willingness and aptitude for learning new skills.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.
- EIT required; licensed in Louisiana desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of airport design experience with a strong knowledge of FAA standards is required.
- Senior positions are available for candidates with 7 years of relevant experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
This position is full-time. The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position reporting to the ICE office 5 days per week.
