Utility Design Manager - Tennessee
Robert G. Campbell and Associates is seeking an enterprising individual with high technical and inter-personal skills to lead and grow the Utility Design Division which is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. As the leader of the division you will have the opportunity to work closely with outstanding clients, employees and stakeholders to bring important utility designs into operation that will benefit local communities
Responsibilities
- Oversee an existing technical staff in the producing designs for public and private water and sewer systems
- Work closely with existing utility clients to meet current and future needs
- Identify new markets and opportunities for growth
- Work with clients to identify funding opportunities and assist them with various funding applications
- Supervise existing staff and work with management to expand staff capabilities into other Tennessee locales
- Recruit and mentor new staff in order to grow the utility division
- Work with and obtain approval from various regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Broad experience in water and sewer design including water mains, sewer mains, pumps/pump stations and storage tanks
- Experience with water and sewer plant design
- Developing grant applications with multiple agencies such as Rural Development, CDBG, ARC, ARPA that include preliminary engineering reports, project budgets and preliminary design
- Water and sewer modeling, system mapping
- Creating project specification and bidding documents
- Project management and administration
- Works with regulatory agencies
- Computer experience with CAD and other design software is a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must complete a pre-employment screening; RGC&A is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering
- 15 plus years of experience in water/wastewater design
- Licensed in the State of TN (or the option to be licensed quickly through reciprocity)
- HAESTAD (or similar modeling software), comfortable in CAD platforms such as AutoCad or MicroStation
Physical and Environmental Requirements
This position can involve up to 8 hours per day in an office. Travel and client meetings are also required, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency
in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
The RGC&A offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule and deliverables. This is primarily an onsite position reporting to the RGC&A office 5 days per week. Limited work at home is an option depending on a variety of project and supervisor factors
