About the position: The Head of Loan Distribution Group (LDG) Americas is focused on developing our client relationships at the C-Suite level and empowering team members to create higher value opportunities in the underwriting, arrangement and distribution of loan activities for ING for the benefit of our customers Regional LDG leader is responsible for driving ING’s lead lending and capital velocity initiatives while also capitalizing on our sector expertise and sustainability goals Evaluating, assessing, and commenting on prospective loan underwriting and arrangement transactions while ensure the necessary internal approvals Managing and hierarchically overseeing both the US Loan Syndicate and the US Loan Sales and Trading activities in the primary and secondary loan markets Managerial and leadership responsibilities include, but not limited to: i) staff appraisals; ii) career development & training; iii) implementing and monitoring global and regional LDG policies and procedures; iv) reviewing and validating departmental financial reporting and v) formulating annual operating and financial budget and KPIs Align the team with department goals and objectives through leadership, collaborative engagement, and accountability Core member of the global Loan Distribution Group Management Team (“Global LDG MT”), the Americas Capital Markets & Advisory Management Team (Americas CM&A MT), Global LDG Underwriting & Pricing Committee (“Global LDG U&PC”) and the Americas Regional Greenlight Committee (“Americas RGLC”) Engaging and collaborating with key internal stakeholder partners including, but not limited to regional and global senior Wholesale Bank management, credit risk management, regional and global business heads and other product and coverage groups Actively contributes to the development and implementation of the overall LDG and CM&A business strategy and ING business principles including ING’s Orange Code About the department: The Loan Distribution Group (“LDG”) is ING’s interface between the broader loan markets and our Wholesale banking clients. LDG is the firm’s center of expertise for loan capital markets (origination/structuring of loan underwriting and arrangement (ie.“best-efforts”)) and distribution (primary and secondary) activities on behalf of our corporate and financial sponsor borrowers. LDG is part of ING’s Global Capital Markets & Advisory division which offers a complete suite of capital markets (loan, bond, securitisation and selected equity) and tailored advisory services (M&A, Ratings and Debt Advisory) to clients. Responsibilities: Responsible for handling strategic aspects of key client relationships including providing advice to the client and directing and coordinating various types of loan capital markets transactions by working in close collaboration with the relevant relationship management and product teams Actively works in conjunction with other senior bankers (with a relationship, sector, or product perspective) on developing bespoke responses to each client’s needs. Identifies synergies/opportunities across various product groups to help achieve client objectives and deliver best-in-class service Drives innovation and challenges status quo to achieve process and procedure efficiencies while still ensuring ING remains a safe and compliant firm Empowers and prioritizes an entrepreneurship atmosphere amongst team members to drive business, problem solve and make thoughtful judgements Displays a proactive strategic vision for continued growth of the LDG business which inspires team members Act as ambassador for LDG within Americas communicating key global messages that reinforce the knowledge and understanding of the LDG strategy Responsibility and accountability for delivering specific revenue targets and KPI metrics as well as managing cost base of the team Play a meaningful part in the achievement of Wholesale Banking’s strategic priorities Qualifications and Competencies Highly professional, articulate and committed individual with top tier written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment managing multiple competing demands Client focus with strong business acumen Strategic thinker – pro-active and innovative mindset Highly effective team coordinator and player Solid analytical and judgment skills Experienced, fully qualified individual with significant track record of origination, structuring and execution of complex loan transactions covering key ING sectors such as project finance, commodities, food & agriculture, real estate finance, leveraged finance, TMT, healthcare and financial institutions Extensive (15 years) of loan capital markets/loan syndications experience across multiple sectors with a particular focus on the US and cross-border deals Track record of developing a multi-faceted, multi-sector business and managing high performing (16 FTEs) teams Strong proficiency in the evaluation and management of credit, operational and market risk Established and well-developed relationships with loan market participants and investors Excellent client relationship, marketing presentation and sales skills in addition to extensive knowledge of products and markets.
