Job Description
With more than 11,000 employees, HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. For nearly 85 years, we’ve designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. Candidate will be responsible for establishing, overseeing, and managing all activities related to assigned shipboard systems. Candidate will perform the following: Research, development, and design of electrical components, equipment, and systems, in accordance with all contractual requirements, military and commercial specifications; initiate procurement specifications; review and approve supplier proposals; review, comment on, adjudicate and approve supplier furnished information for translation into construction products; interface with vendors and Navy technical representatives; support vendor design reviews and testing; develop drawings and other documents IAW Mil-Specs and contract drawings; interface with other disciplines and departments to ensure a seamless integration of assigned systems into the shipboard environment; address and resolve technical issues, and make decisions on problems in his/her area of responsibility; support shipbuilding production department as required.

- Previous shipbuilding experience is highly desired
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
- Experience in the design and development of Controls Systems and equipment.
- A current security clearance is also a plus; some travel may be required.
