Our client, a leader in fintech solutions is looking for a Quality and Release Manager to lead their DevOps and Quality Engineering teams. You will manage a group of 6-10 engineers, defining strategies that ensure rapid, high-quality releases. Key Responsibilities
Lead, Inspire, Develop
- Manage and mentor your team: From hiring and onboarding to ongoing 1:1s and performance reviews, you’ll guide the growth of your engineers, helping them achieve their full potential.
- Set ambitious goals: Establish clear objectives for both the team and individual contributors, holding them accountable for timely and high-quality delivery.
- Foster development: Support your team’s professional and personal growth by providing the tools, feedback, and environment needed for success.
- Create a thriving culture: Build a team culture based on trust, psychological safety, and adaptability, where everyone is empowered to bring forward new ideas.
Drive Operational Excellence
- Lead technical operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, while keeping everyone aligned and moving forward.
- Spot and fix gaps: Identify process or tooling weaknesses and take action to improve workflows, tools, and practices.
- Stay hands-on: Occasionally write and maintain test cases and suites, staying closely involved with the technical work.
Champion Quality & Release
- Ensure reliability and visibility: Oversee the integrity of test cases, releases, and infrastructure changes, ensuring everything is fully visible and auditable.
- Own delivery workflows: Take charge of the processes and tools used for application delivery and monitoring, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- Measure success: Define and track KPIs to monitor the success of your efforts and the team’s performance.
- Empower the team: Provide the necessary training and resources for your engineers to make the most effective use of tools and practices.
Collaborate & Communicate
- Engage with key stakeholders: Work cross-functionally with other managers, contractors, and teams to align on goals and deliverables.
- Inspire clarity and alignment: Ensure transparent communication across the organization so everyone is aligned and moving toward shared goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- 7 years of leadership experience: Proven success in managing software teams, especially with a focus on DevOps and/or quality engineering.
- 5 years of direct management experience: You’ve led at least four individual contributors, guiding them to success.
- Quality-first mindset: Expertise in managing quality processes like workflows, ticketing, and reporting.
- Cloud-savvy: Experience with managing cloud-based infrastructure, ideally AWS.
- Emotional intelligence: Strong ability to empathize, listen, and lead with a collaborative, people-focused approach.
- Detail-oriented and organized: A sharp eye for detail and an ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency with tools: Experience with Atlassian suite, X-Ray, or similar test management tools.
- DevOps expertise: Comfortable with tools such as Docker, CloudFormation, Terraform, and Puppet.
- Tech stack familiarity: Knowledge of .NET Core, MySQL, Vue.js, and Node.js.
- Fintech experience: Familiarity with financial services or fintech industries is a plus.

Compensation and Location Details
This role offers a competitive salary range of $170,000–$195,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. The position is based in San Diego, CA, with flexible work options including in-office, hybrid, or remote.
