Job Summary:
The Project Estimator is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Their duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compile reports and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for contacting and working with sub-contractors and suppliers during the bid process to obtain complete bid package information.
- Required to put together complete and accurate budget price based on all documents and drawings provided.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing of electrical systems.
- Prepare detailed estimates including assigning material and labor values to take-offs through Accubid software.
- Acquire vendor pricing on specialty materials including, but not limited to, lighting, power, FA, low voltage.
- Maintains positive working relationships with clients, building owners, contractors, consultants, vendors, and partners.
- Show an understanding of electrical equipment, installation means, and terminology.
- Review, and become familiar with project plans, specifications, and other contract documents, which would encompass all drawings, not just the electrical sheets.
- Review quotations for accuracy, best value, and availability.
- Establish relationships with clients, as well as vendors and subcontractors.
- Must be available by cell phone during business hours.
- Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
- Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities and assigned.
- Perform duties in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
- Maintain, clean and care for all assigned equipment.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Report writing and strategic planning skills.
- Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects.
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, statistics, or another related field preferred.
- Certified Professional Estimator or Associate Estimating Professional certification is highly desirable.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office /field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as projectors, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Some Travel and weekend work required for this position.

Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
