This is a remote role reporting to the Associate Director, Editorial Services.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. About the Role:
The Manager of Editorial Services manages the daily activities of the department to ensure that all jobs are completed on time and to high standards. You will collaborate with other department heads and team members to maintain good working relationships. You will perform copyediting, fact checks, check changes, and proofreading of promotional, digital, and medical communications.
This is a remote role reporting to the Associate Director, Editorial Services.
You will:
- Lead, mentor, and manage 2-4 editors and review editors’ work
- Train team by coordinating multiple training programs, including onboarding and ongoing editorial training; weekly or bi-weekly 1:1s to support on projects and in personal growth
- Support the team with job assignments, managing department workload, agency improvements
- Attend daily meetings, and assign jobs to editors based on availability and deadlines
- Follow up with Project Management about timelines
- Advocate for editorial team members, including meeting with other teams to resolve issues
- Ensure editors are keeping style guides up to date
- Copy edit to ensure consistency and conformance with established grammar, punctuation, and spelling rules, and American Medical Association (AMA), client, and house style guidelines
- Fact check all information against source material to ensure accuracy
- Validate reference list against references provided
- Proofread word-for-word against approved copy, and evaluating layouts for problems with spacing, leading, kerning, type size, font, justification, and white space
- Initiate, track, and process copyright permission requests
- Manage style guides and global change logs for specific brands, managing updates after brand and med/legal reviews
- Communicate updates to AMA and grammar/syntax shifts in standard English where applicable
- Establish good working relationships with members of other departments
- Partner with all departments to ensure compliance and consistency with editorial practices and standards
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably in communications, English, or health sciences
- 5 years of editorial experience
- 2 years of agency experience (healthcare marketing, pharmaceutical advertising, or medical communications)
- 2 years management experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and managerial skills
- Understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology
- Ability to manage work effectively and adhere to necessary deadlines
- Knowledge of multiple style guides
- Familiarity with Ziflow and Box
- Proficiency in American Medical Association style
