Position Overview

Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and government funding regulations.
- Partner with the CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors to develop financial strategies and risk assessments.
- Manage audit preparation, grant reporting, and financial reconciliations.
- Optimize financial processes and systems to support operational efficiency.
- Supervise accounting staff, including hiring and mentoring a Senior Accountant.
- Lead financial planning for key initiatives, capital projects, and funding strategies.
- Oversee relationships with external financial partners, including auditors, banks, and payroll providers.

Requirements
- 8 years of progressive finance experience, including 5 years in fund/nonprofit accounting.

- CPA preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of IRS 990 reporting, audit processes, and financial regulations for nonprofits.
- Proven experience in team leadership, board reporting, and financial strategy.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment and support organizational growth.
- Ideally based in Maui, but open to candidates from other islands with potential travel flexibility.
