Job Description
We seek an experienced Forester to responsibly manage fiscally and biologically, over 40,000 acres of timberland. The Forestry Department at Inland Empire Paper Company is a team setting that collaborates on implementing the Forest Management Plan with projects that involve harvesting, burning, and road maintenance & construction, inventory, and reforestation.
Responsibilities:
- Harvest planning and operations including unit design, boundary delineation, easement maintenance, environmental compliance, harvest system selection, bidding/negotiating price, and contracting including contract administration.
- Develop and implement silvicultural projects such as planting, burning, and herbicide spraying.
- Forest road layout, construction and maintenance including budgeting, permitting and contract supervision.
- Assist with development of departmental budgets and forecasts.
- Work with GIS; assist in maintenance and editing of database.
- Administer and ensure compliance with state forest practice regulations.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, forest science or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in resource management and knowledgeable about Inland Northwest silviculture and harvest systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve department goals.
- Demonstrated collaborative communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills both written and verbal with emphasis on relationship development and interactions with contractors, neighboring landowners, general public and business associates.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite and GIS.
- Previous experience in timberland appraisal preferred.
- The safe and legal operation of a company vehicle on public and private forest roads is an essential function of the job and requires a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Additional Information
- The Forester is a salaried exempt and/or non-exempt position. Pay range is $65k to $95k per year depending on experience and education.

Some holidays may be worked depending on the crew rotation.
