Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hospitality Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our hospitality business. The ideal candidate has a strong background in hospitality or restaurant accounting, is highly proficient with POS reconciliation—specifically TOAST, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment. This role also plays a key part in supporting financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Reconciliation
- Prepare and maintain daily sales reports, including reconciliation of sales from TOAST POS
- Record journal entries for revenue, expenses, tips, and discounts
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card batches, cash deposits, and third-party delivery sales (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats)
- Create and provide accurate Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to ownership and management on a regular basis
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, match with purchase orders, and ensure timely payments
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Manage vendor relationships and maintain accurate records
Labor Cost Tracking
- Monitor daily and weekly labor costs through TOAST and scheduling platforms
- Analyze labor percentage in relation to sales and budgeted targets
- Provide reports and insights to support operational and financial decision-making
Inventory, COGS, & Budgeting
- Track and reconcile inventory and cost of goods sold
- Identify variances between actual and theoretical food/beverage costs
- Assist with the development and management of budgets for multiple departments or locations
- Work with leadership to forecast expenses, revenue, and profitability based on historical and seasonal trends
Month-End Close & Compliance
- Execute month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare journal entries, financial statements, and management reports
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
- Assist with tax preparation and audit documentation as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required with experience)
- 4 years of accounting experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry
- Experience with TOAST POS is required
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Experience with budgeting, financial forecasting, and P&L preparation
- Solid understanding of hospitality-specific financial metrics (COGS, labor %, prime cost)
- Strong Excel skills and analytical thinking
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
