What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at Innophos?
We are looking for a motivated and results-driven Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing operations at our Waterway Plant located in Riverdale, Ill. This leadership role is responsible for driving productivity, quality, safety, environmental sustainability, and cost-efficiency. This role ensures compliance with Safety, Environmental, Quality, and GMP standards while leading continuous improvement efforts. Keys to success in this role include motivating staff, collaborating with cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
\n- Oversee manufacturing activities to meet production, capacity, and schedule goals
- Set, communicate and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) for Manufacturing and Maintenance teams
- Lead continuous improvement efforts and problem-solving across teams
- Lead efforts to manage safety performance across the site, working closely with the team to prevent incidents and ensure a safe work environment. Ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- People management: hiring, training, motivating, managing performance, and developing succession plans
- Determine optimal staffing levels to meet production needs
- Develop and manage the annual manufacturing budget ensuring cost control and identifying savings opportunities
- Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with FDA Quality and GMP standards
- Work with the Maintenance Department to address equipment repairs and support preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of plant goals
- Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical degrees preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with 5 years in a supervisory role
- Experience managing in a union environment preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and continuous improvement abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft applications; familiarity with ERP systems
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and FDA regulations
