Innophos is hiring a Quality Control Supervisor at our Nutrient Ingredient Manufacturing location in North Salt Lake, UT. The Quality Control Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and safety of food ingredients manufactured within the facility by overseeing all aspects of quality control operations on the production floor. This position is responsible for monitoring adherence to food safety standards, managing non-conformance investigations, and implementing corrective actions. The Quality Control (QC) Supervisor will guide and develop the quality control team, fostering collaboration across departments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
\n- Oversee all QC processes, including raw material, semi-finished, and finished goods inspection, EMP sampling, in-process control tests, sanitation inspections, lot disposition, quarantine procedures, and label control
- Coordinate internal trials or validations, including production and cleaning validation with the support of the plant lab and QA
- Draft, update, review, audit, and update all QC operation-related SOPs, protocols, plan, working instructions, statements, templates, spreadsheets as requested
- Investigate, conduct root cause analysis, and design CAPA for quality defects, non-conformities, deviations, and customer complaints
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with FSMA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, Kosher, Halal, ISO 17025, and other regulatory requirements
- Lead and mentor the QC team, providing training, setting performance goals, and conducting performance reviews, while ensuring the team has the necessary resources and up-to-date job descriptions to perform effectively
- Supervise the purchasing, ordering, and procurement of QC tools and supplies
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and undertake temporary assignments or projects assigned by quality management
- Ensure all QC activities comply with safety regulations, proactively preventing accidents and demonstrating a commitment to safety across the entire QC operation environment
- Work cross-functionally between operations, maintenance, and corporate
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field is preferred
- Relevant certifications (e.g., SQF, GMP, CQA, CQE, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus
- 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Quality within a food, nutrition supplement, or related manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with 21 CFR 111, 21 CFR 117, cGMP, FSMA, SQF, HACCP, Kosher, and Halal regulations
- Project management skills to oversee quality improvement initiatives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and problem-solving abilities to effectively address non-conformities
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
