Cobol Mainframe Engineer – Remote Innova Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to support and enhance mainframe applications critical to our business operations. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement software solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and secure applications. The role requires expertise in mainframe technologies and a strong understanding of software engineering processes. Key Responsibilities : Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, Easytrieve, VSAM, CICS, JCL, and DB2.Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and software solutions.Debug and troubleshoot code to identify and resolve defects, ensuring high-quality application performance.Follow Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.Implement and adhere to version control practices and procedures to maintain code integrity.Develop software solutions with a focus on security, ensuring applications are safeguarded against potential threats.Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute software engineering strategies aligned with business goals.Document technical processes, designs, and solutions for future reference and compliance. Required Skills and Experience : 5 years of experience in complex engineering environments, formulating detailed plans from abstract concepts.Proficiency in mainframe programming languages and tools, including COBOL, Easytrieve, VSAM, CICS, JCL, and DB2.Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices.Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures.Expertise in identifying, debugging, and resolving application defects.Familiarity with design and programming techniques that prioritize security.Preferred : Experience in the Financial Services industry. Qualifications : Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.Excellent communication and documentation skills.
