Mainframe COBOL Developer

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Kansas City, MO that is looking for a talented Mainframe COBOL Developer with a deep understanding of JCL and a proven track record in working with SHAW systems. This individual will play a pivotal role in a long-term project for a banking client. Responsibilities:

• Mainframe Development: Utilize COBOL programming language to develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications
• JCL Mastery: Write and troubleshoot JCL procedures to automate tasks and manage job execution on the mainframe
• Problem-Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to mainframe systems and applications
• Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with other developers, analysts, and business stakeholders
  
  

Requirements

• Experience developing and maintaining mainframe applications using COBOL
• Proven experience working with SHAW systems, including understanding of its data structures, workflows, and interfaces
• In-depth knowledge of JCL syntax, control statements, and best practices
• Familiarity with mainframe operating systems (e.g., z/OS), database management systems (e.g., DB2), and other relevant tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience with migrating from SHAW CLS to Temenos
• Demonstrate a strong proficiency in SHAW, our Loan servicing and accounting system, and be able to effectively navigate its complexities
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with [relevant tools or technologies, e.g., IMS, CICS, VSAM]
• Knowledge of banking industry standards and regulations
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
