What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Assistant Principal position at Innovation Academy Charter School?
Through their work with student culture and family communication, the Assistant Principal ensures that the school culture is in support of an academic program with high expectations for all students. The Assistant Principal reports to the Principal to ensure the day-to-day operation of the school is a reflection of the school’s mission and values.
Provide input for staff meetings and memos (ex: school operations, events, trainings related to school culture
Assist in the orientation of new staff members (in particular, in matters of student culture/discipline)
Observes students that are struggling behaviorally and offers feedback/coaching to teachers.
Ensure that the school culture supports academic program goals
In collaboration with the principal, manage the academic probation process
Manage retention/summer school process
Manage family communication and structure for summer school program
Support MTSS process for those who have been referred
Support caseload of 504s
Solicit input from staff to place students thoughtfully in advisory and class cohorts
Assist with building the master schedule & student schedule requests
Lead Advisory Program
Manage any student conduct referrals
Implement restorative practices when managing conflict involving students
Meets and greets students and families on a daily basis
In collaboration with the Principal, ensure adherence to the student and family handbook and make updates as necessary
Assist with managing and leading community meetings
Assist students and IACA in planning and organizing social events
Work in conjunction with the Principal to supervise school activities such as dances, concerts, plays, and other special events
Develop and distribute student surveys related to student culture and compile and disseminate results
