Description
To achieve the mission of the Innovation Charter School, instructors at Innovation ensure that our student-innovators work to achieve rigorous academic goals. Specifically, these teachers plan, instruct, and assess students in the mainstream classroom. Our teachers develop, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an inclusive learning environment to enable all students to fulfill their academic potential.
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant experience working in the music industry
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred but not required
- Two years of classroom teaching in an urban setting preferred
- TA or Teaching certification preferred but not required
Goals and Responsibilities
The General Music Teacher has the following responsibilities:
- Develop curricula and provide instruction in General Music and Introduction to Music Industry classes
- Introduce students to the basics of music and provide opportunities for them to sing, play instruments, perform, and listen to various genres of music from around the world, including musical theater.
- Establish connections with the arts and music communities to strengthen our music program
- Plan special events in music and arts, including a winter and spring showcase
- Complete a minimum of 40 hours of professional development per year with the support of the Professional Development Coordinator, the Arts Department Chair, and other staff
- Provide out-of-class student support
- In addition to classroom teaching, you will engage in our Enrichment Week, after-school program, and extracurricular activities.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Principal or her designee.

Evaluation
Teacher performance is formally appraised during evaluation cycles that occur during the school year. Appraisals are transparent, collaborative, intended to promote professional growth, and based on the accomplishment of the major goals and responsibilities outlined in your job description.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time position. Salary is highly competitive and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
