Job Description
A growing Dearborn based Payroll processing company has an established history of providing high quality services to our business community is seeking a highly motivated Payroll professional staff.
The position will be responsible for payroll processing and various services for an assigned block of business.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for keying, auditing and processing payroll daily for assigned groups.
- Process complex payroll in a multi-state in a timely and accurate manner
- Prepare and file tax reports
- Check timecards for accuracy and necessary approvals and import into payroll system.
- Review new hire, termination, and status changes and, when required, calculate and input adjustments required for current and/or previous pay periods.
- Administer general deductions, benefit deductions, and taxable fringe benefits in payroll system
- Prepare and issue manual check requests with supporting documentation.
- Responsible for setting up child support and tax wage garnishments for accounts
- Must keep up to date with Federal and State law changes.
- Assist in federal, state, and local tax withholding reconciliations and period-end processing.
- Process employment verifications.
- Provide assistance to payroll administrator and Tax manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- 5 years payroll processing experience (multi-state and FEIN)
- 5 years payroll tax experience is a plus
- Payroll certification preferred
- Knowledge of tax and garnishment laws, as well as federal and state wage and hour laws
- Working knowledge of Excel; ability to do v-lookups and pivot tables is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and good communications is a must
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
