What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Maintenance position at Inns of Santa Cruz?
We are hiring a full maintenance technician to join our team of multiple hotels between Santa Cruz and Capitola. A hotel maintenance performs a variety of duties related to the smooth upkeep and maintenance of a hotel’s operations on both the interior and exterior. You will be responsible for keeping the hotel maintained and fixing any issues that occur for our small boutique properties. You should expect physically demanding work that includes using tools and equipment and moving around much of the day, including having to climb ladders, lift heavy items and crawl in tight spaces when necessary. Your goal will be to ensure our hotel premises are safe and functional for guests and employees alike.
Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Will be required to travel between all three properties as part of weekly schedule.
- Complete tasks and assignments on daily maintenance checklists including preventative maintenance to rooms on weekly basis.
- Ensures exterior building and grounds are clean by use of a pressure washer and blower.
- Ensures Preventive Maintenance repairs in the following areas occur lighting, electrical and wiring, plumbing, lite HVAC, guest rooms, appliances, doors and locks, furniture, carpet (remove stains and cleaning) and floors. debris from parking lot, landscaping, and dumpster area daily
- Clears trash and empties property trash containers daily.
- Sweeps and cleans sidewalks and stairs as needed (trash and weather related).
- Ability to patch holes, clean carpets, and paint walls, ceilings, doors.
- Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.
- Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Monitor furnace, air-conditioner and boiler systems to provide heat, cool air and hot water.
- Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers as needed.
- Order maintenance supplies as needed.
- Ensures Preventive Maintenance repairs in the following areas occur lighting, electrical and wiring, plumbing, lite HVAC, guest rooms, appliances, doors and locks, furniture, carpet (remove stains and cleaning) and floors.
Maintenance Worker Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Ability to use standard tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- General knowledge of heating, air conditioning, electric and plumbing skills.
- Ability to stay focused while working individually with limited supervision.
- Experience performing routine maintenance for hotel rooms.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Professional presentation and attitude.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Notify management of any major repairs as needed.
- Assist housekeeping department as needed.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies as needed (on-call on weekends).
- Candidate should have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and willing to drive between all three properties as necessary.
- Candidate will be on-call on for emergency situations.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Capable to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend at waist and work on knees.
- Can reach overhead.
- Ability to work outside in hot or cold weather.
