What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Scheduler Northern Virginia ASC position at Inova Surgery Center?
Inova Northern Virginia Surgery Center is a full service ambulatory outpatient facility. We provide cost-effective outpatient services using modern, state-of-the-art technology in a friendly and caring environment by highly-skilled, compassionate staff serving the Washington DC Metro area. We are located on the campus of Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Schedules all outpatient surgeries and procedures for busy Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Coordinates efforts with Clinical Staff to prevent equipment and staffing conflicts and schedules ancillary services relative to a procedure(s).
- Prepares and distributes the daily surgery schedule.
- Assists with registration forms, patient ID tags, and patient chart preparation for next day cases.
- Ensures the completeness and accuracy of information in the medical chart prior to the admission and compiles unsigned transcribed dictation.
- Captures complete and accurate patient clinical, demographic and insurance information.
- Communicates same day and next day add-on cases, scheduling conflicts, and any patient problems.
- Tracks cancellations; monitors and maintains block time
- Cross trains in other aspects of Business Office operations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum one (1) year scheduling experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute-care hospital, or doctor’s office.
- Experience in orthopedic office or Surgery Center with heavy ortho cases is strongly preferred
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Comprehension of medical terminology.
- Experience using scheduling software, HST experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in Windows software
- Excellent communication skills.
- Competency in oral and written skills.
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
