What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor position at Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy?
Overview:
The Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide professional level counseling to individuals under the direction of the Director of Services. As a member of the treatment team, they are responsible for providing a broad range of treatment services including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention as well as completing assessments and reports. Work closely with guardians, families, and referral sources to provide quality care to those served.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the severity and type of substance use disorder
2. Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to clients to address their substance use disorder and mental health concerns
3. Lead group sessions, focusing on skill-building, coping strategies, and peer support.
4. Offer emotional support, guidance, and education to clients and their families regarding substance use disorder recovery
5. Maintain schedules of individuals served. This may include providing transportation to outside appointments, assisting with set up of telehealth services, etc.
6. Maintain confidentiality of records relating to individual’s treatment
7. Maintain billing information; submit billing information to the business office in a timely manner
8. Act as a liaison with other organizations for the coordination of care of the individual
9. Ensure all standards by governing agencies and referral sources are met.
10. Attend all required training and meetings.
11. Assists with employee training on addictions as requested or assigned
12. Interfaces with the community to help promote Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy’s mission and values
13. Provides on-call services, when necessary
14. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
15. Treat all people with respect and dignity; act as an advocate as needed.
16. Work with all co-workers, staff, and outside agencies in a cooperative and professional manner.
17. Follow all Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy’s Policies and Procedures
18. Communicate with other departmental staff (residential, work services, employment services, etc.) as necessary to ensure coordination of quality service provision for clients.
19. Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress, treatment plans, and session notes, following legal and ethical guidelines
20. Provide crisis intervention when needed, offering immediate support to lcients in distress or crisis situations
21. Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use of computer and telephone systems which includes coordinator of eye and hand and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, working with files). Requires talking, seeing, hearing, and reading; expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, received, and communicated detailed information through oral communication, clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance, must be able to read and understand text. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
Must have the ability to understand and follow oral instruction, to understand and follow written instruction, to guide and/or give instruction, and to make decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies. Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions.
- CADC or IADC
- Medication Management Certification (or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire).
- CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire).
- Valid Driver’s License
- Understanding of the levels of care, ASAM dimensions, stages of change, and the ability to utilize motivational interviewing techniques
- Experience with MS Office
- Lived experience welcome, but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
