Chief Financial and Operating Officer
George School seeks nominations and applications for its next Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Embracing the school’s mission, the CFOO role requires an experienced, strategic, and collaborative administrator to oversee the school’s financial portfolio and manage its daily operations. To that end, the new CFOO will be expected to be actively present in the daily life of the school, connecting with each member of the community while also employing long-arc strategic thinking and partnership.
As a 130-year-old boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12, George School remains grounded in its Quaker values and offers opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to engage in rigorous academic query while building relationships with each other. The shared purpose of continuing revelation permeates every classroom discussion, each Meeting for Worship, and myriad co-curricular activities. The community encourages students to become themselves with kindness and conviction, working toward the Quaker ideal of a caring and just society.
The CFOO will be a critical member of the Administrative Leadership Team and will work closely with the Head of School to oversee the Business Office, Human Resources, Dining Services, Technology, Auxiliary Services, and Facilities (including Buildings and Grounds, Housekeeping, and Security). The Chief Financial and Operating Officer will also serve as the administrative liaison to the Board of Trustees’ Financial Committee and will work closely with the Board’s Treasurer.
Exhibiting the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct, the successful CFOO candidate will have a minimum of seven to ten years of broad-based, senior financial leadership experience in a sophisticated, complex, and growing educational institution, or equivalent non-for-profit environment. An undergraduate degree is required; MBA, CPA, and / or other advanced degrees / certifications preferred. Boarding school experience is also strongly preferred.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Pennsylvania. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. George School offers a generous benefits package, including tuition remission and on campus housing opportunities.
