Olympic College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Faculty Counselor. The College is seeking outstanding candidates with a strong commitment to equity and social justice and a passion for providing high quality counseling services to a diverse student population. The staff of Olympic College Counseling Services, housed within the Division of Student Development Services, work as a team to provide direct services and referrals to enhance student retention and success. Counselors also serve as a supportive resource for and provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding their student-related concerns. Essential Functions
- Providing culturally responsive direct services to new, returning, and continuing students, including personal counseling, crisis intervention, career counseling, group counseling, high school completion, and referrals to academic advising, and other to College and community resources.
- Assisting students with identifying and resolving problems affecting their educational and personal development by clarifying short and long range goals.
- Intervening and providing guidance for students who are experiencing barriers to academic success.
- Providing faculty input and participating in College-wide student retention / success programs and activities.
- Serving as a resource to faculty and staff.
- regarding student issues that impact academic success.
- Serving as liaison to instructional divisions and the community in providing counseling and retention-related services.
- Administering and interpreting individual and group career and psychometric assessments.
- Providing coverage to provide services during non-instructional weeks, in consultation with the counseling team and supervisor.
- Maintaining records of contacts with students and completing forms as required. Adhering to American Counseling Association (ACA) and state of Washington ethical and legal standards.
- Participating in faculty development and governance activities.
- Participating in departmental and College-wide committees and projects.
- Performing other related duties as assigned and / or required.
- Serving as a CARE Team member.
- Developing and facilitating workshops to enhance student success.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department.
