Job Summary
The Department of Economics at the Richards College of Business, University of West Georgia, invites applications for a Lecturer's position (Non-tenured) in Economics. Applicants are expected to have a master's degree in Economics, or closely related field (with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in economics). Preference will be giving to candidates who are also qualified to teach courses in our Business Analytics program. The position is primarily located on the University of West Georgia's main campus in Carrollton, GA, but may require teaching at our locations in Newnan, GA and Douglasville, GA. The position will begin in Fall 2025.
Responsibilities
The primary teaching responsibilities are in the areas of Economics and business statistics, e.g., introductory microeconomics, introductory macroeconomics, consumer economics, introduction to business statistics, and business programming [using SAS, R, or Python]. Individuals will teach online, face-to-face, hybrid, and high-flex modes (simultaneously online and face-to-face) at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professional responsibilities may include directing the Richards College Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy, which requires engagement with the Georgia Council on Economic Education, local PreK-12 economics educators, local civic groups, chambers of commerce, and other groups interested in economic education and financial literacy. Additional expectations include professional development, scholarly research activity (which may include, but is not limited to refereed journal publications), service to the department, college, and UWG community.
Required Qualifications
Earned master's degree (MS, MBA, MA, or equivalent with 18 graduate hours of economics / analytics earned) in Economics, Analytics, or closely related field.
Previous teaching and / or research experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Economics, or closely related field with qualifications to teach courses in business analytics.
Previous teaching, research, or industry experience preferred. We are interested in candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching, student engagement, service (department, college, and university), and professional and / or scholarly activity.
Proposed Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.
