JOB PURPOSE :
The Social Media and Digital Community Specialist at the Hoover Institution plays a pivotal role in elevating the digital presence of the Institution and its fellows. Reporting to the Distribution & Conversion Manager , this position is responsible for the management and optimization of all institutional social media accounts focusing on the creation, curation, and amplification of high-quality digital content that aligns with Hooverâs mission and priorities. This role serves as a bridge between fellows, audiences, and strategic digital opportunities, ensuring a consistent and impactful presence across platforms current and new.
The specialist will also assist participating Hoover fellows with their own social accounts and equip fellows with the tools, insights, and training necessary to effectively engage and grow their digital audiences while seamlessly integrating their work into the Institutionâs broader social media strategy.
In addition to producing content, the Social Media and Digital Community Specialist will collaborate with external partners, analyze performance metrics, and implement data-driven strategies to enhance engagement and reach. By fostering partnerships, community engagement, and innovation, this role will promote the Hoover Institutionâs mission, advance its brand recognition, and support its public policy research initiatives across key focus areas such as national security, economic policy, education reform, and emerging technology.
This is a unique opportunity for a creative, analytical, and collaborative digital media professional to shape the Hoover Institutionâs online narrative and contribute to impactful policy discussions. Under minimal supervision, they will build, cultivate, advocate for, respond to, monitor, and grow a digital community on behalf of, and while representing the Hoover Institution.
CORE DUTIES
- Produce and curate digital content to engage users, increase user base, and grow channels. Optimize content delivery strategies; build content topics, tailor content to outlet platform, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions.
- Strategize to build and grow digital community through social media channels, paid advertising campaigns, blogs, and the web.
Partner with members of the Hoover fellowship and Institutional Programming to promote their research, analysis and commentary
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES
Work closely with the Distribution & Conversion Manager to understand and assist in the implementation of Hooverâs social media plan across all related platforms.
Use and share the various modes of communication and marketing tools of all social media platforms.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience strongly preferred including knowledge of and experience in the field of public policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
The expected pay range for this position is $81,309 to $93,494 per annum.
