Overview
Under general supervision performs the more difficult professional casework services; provide specialized services; provide consultation services to subordinates, graduate students and other staff.
We are looking for a dynamic social worker with a desire to work with children and families at Rosa Parks Elementary School (RPE), which is located in the vibrant community of City Heights. Join us in supporting the students of RPE to maximize their educational attainment and their life outcomes. We utilize a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum to support both the students and their parents. SEL requires a two-generation approach, so you will have the opportunity to work with both the students and their families.
The Rosa Parks Elementary School social worker (MSW) coordinates student services through the school's social work program, an integral part of the Social Emotional Program. The candidate will actively provide assessment, individual and group counseling, and case management. The candidate will ensure services are effective and maintain a positive relationship with the school and community agencies.
Responsibilities
PROVIDE COUNSELING / THERAPY 50%
- Assess students for mental health issues and complete intake process with students / families
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling.
- Provide referrals to resources and case management to students and families.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Develop relationships between home and school, and with health and social service programs.
- Facilitate support groups on topics such as self-esteem groups, social skills, anger management, etc.
- Provide prevention and awareness activities to the entire school community.
- Provide SEL presentations and activities to the entire school community.
- Provide classroom presentations on prevention related topics.
