Job Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Manager oversees and coordinates activities related to the continuous improvement of all company activities, including driving the organization toward efficient operations by performing duties personally or through other collaborative initiatives. This position is charged with improving the plant’s efficiency, upgrading to new technologies, leveraging automation, overseeing system repairs, increasing production capacities, reducing manufacturing-related issues, and leading transformation efforts. Additionally, this role reviews project plans, provides subject matter advice to plant leaders and key stakeholders, and develops operational plans for projects including renovation, construction, and installations to maximize plant efficiencies.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related field
- Extensive supervisor experience with at least 4 years of management experience in manufacturing
- Prior Lean experience and a good understanding of how to lead Kaizen and 5’s events
- Strong knowledge of FDA, OSHA, and GMP regulations
- Excellent supervisory, computer, and communication skills
- Proven background in evaluation of personnel and capability of machinery
- Proven ability to evaluate production processes and staffing needs for best results
- Ability to coach leaders in following procedures and ensuring timely and efficient completion of objectives
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods
- Assists in the development and implementation of the annual capital budget
- Oversee the planning, design, and construction of capital projects meeting budget and timelines
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; and soliciting feedback from operators
- Conduct business analysis by reviewing manufacturing forecasts, and monthly and annual reports, and participate in long-range planning strategies to maximize performance while minimizing costs
- Commit to continuous improvement process development through awareness of new manufacturing technologies and equipment to reduce cost and increase efficiencies
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
- Improve efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes. • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products, according to specifications and quality standards
- Estimates production times, and related costs to provide information for management decision
- Maintain product and Company reputation by complying with governmental regulations
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in groups/societies
