What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Engineer position at Insight Global?
Required Skillset:
- AS or BS Degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent – Majors in: Controls and Computer Control Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation engineering, etc.), or 5 years’ experience in Control Systems Design and PLC, or equivalent
- Implementation (Siemens, Omron preferred) or equivalent
- Human Machine Interface (HMI / GUI – Proface, WinCC, Ignition)
- Proficiency creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD - (EPLAN required)
- Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) programming skill
Day to Day:
- Program and debug structured text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms (Siemens TIA Portal and Omron Sysmac Studio)
- Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using Siemens WinCC / Proface / Weintek EasyBuilder and SCADA dashboards screens using Ignition
- Create robust programs and sequences to control complex, multi-station machinery to perform processes such as material pick and place, dispense, roll to roll, welding, testing and material transport
- Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation
- Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
- Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards
- Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
- Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment
- Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required
Compensation:
$65/hr to $70/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Salary : $65 - $75
