What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Estimator position at Insight Global?
Position Summary: One of Insight Global’s major clients are seeking an Electrical Estimator to join their team. Qualified candidates will be responsible for the development of estimates related to the construction of primarily water-related infrastructure. This includes wastewater treatment facilities, stormwater drainage systems or facilities, desalination plants, and similar structures. Selected candidates will be specifically responsible for the estimation of the electrical components of facility construction. This includes switchgear, motor controls, transformers, control panels, conduit, etc. Daily responsibilities include:
- Recognizes, understands and applies estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling all types of estimates.
- Recognizes how various processes/project actions and assumptions may impact the estimate and quantifies the impact.
- Assists in analyzing and using estimates to predict key project issues.
- Prepares and/or coordinates preparation of full project estimates. Provides complete conceptual and final estimating input.
- Understands construction means, methods, and sequences-singe discipline.
- Assists in the preparation of the Estimate Plan.
- Conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- May provide guidance to less experienced estimating personnel.
- Develops wage rate build-ups.
- Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, Requests-for-Proposals and contracts.
- Develops detailed material take-offs for procurement of bulk materials.
- Develops cash flow schedules and estimates.
- Knowledgeable of the CAES estimating system.
- Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes.
- Prepares subcontract bid analysis for scope, cost, and price.
- Utilizes Earned Value Management (EVMS) theory and application.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
Plusses:
- Electrical or Chemical engineering degree preferred
- Previous heavy civil construction experience
- Experience in hard-bid contract work as well as conceptual estimating.
- Experience in Concrete structures and Wastewater Treatment Plants
- Experience on water resources and water treatment plants
- Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
Compensation:
$120,000 to $135,000 per year annual salary.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
