What are the responsibilities and job description for the Linux System Administrator position at Insight Global?
Compensation: $45/hr to $55/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start day 1 of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Must Haves:
- 7 years of experience in IT Systems Administration
- Majority of that experience should be within Linux Systems Administration
- Bachelors degree in IT or related STEM field
- Active Secret Clearance
- CompTIA Sec Certification or other comparable IAT Level II Certification (CCNA, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP)
- Extensive experience with Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT fundamentals, including operating systems, networking, and database management
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, adept at diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues
- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving daily support tickets, including providing end-user support via phone, email, and remote control
- Familiar with utilizing DISA STIG checklists to evaluate and document compliance
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, adhering to established procedures and protocols
- Perform additional duties as assigned

- Proven experience in DevOps, including deploying and implementing software services and APIs
- Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and managing applications

- Proficient with security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption, with a solid understanding of security best practices

- Experienced with cloud-based infrastructure, like Amazon Web Services (AWS), including cloud migration, deployment, load balancing, and failover technologies

Day to Day:
Insight Global is looking for a talented Sr Linux Administrator to join one of their top federal clients at Hill Air Force Base on a large defensive weaponry program. This individual will be joining the Information Services team and will be supporting the Mission of Strategic Deterrence through continuous improvements and innovation. Some of your responsibilities would include:
- Deploy and set up Linux applications and services
- Install various Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software applications
- Manage software licensing and server certification
- Test application functionality and ensure security configurations are current and effective
- Remove software from networks
- Train team members on current business practices and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform software version upgrades
- Administer Linux/RHEL operating systems
- Implement and test software patches and security updates
- Install, configure, harden, and test new or updated system changes
- Create, execute, and enhance documentation for installation, configuration, hardening, and maintenance tasks
- Document activities, statuses, and issues encountered
- Provide input to and adhere to Configuration Management processes
- Ensure compliance with IT infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures
- Assist in root cause analysis and resolve system and application faults and errors
