Title: Paralegal (Tax Offset Appeals/Bankruptcy)
Location: Indianapolis IN (hybrid)
Targeted Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 (includes full benefit coverage, time off options, etc.)

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Associate's Degree experience could be considered.
- Two or more years of experience in debt collections or bankruptcy is preferred.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner is preferred.
Primary Role:
- Manage the College’s Tax Offset Program and student bankruptcy information.
- Maintain correspondence, analyze records, coordinate hearings, and support various tasks related to student accounts.
Tax Offset/Bankruptcy:
- Process and maintain correspondence and files for Tax Offset Program appeals.
- Serve as backup for file transmissions to/from the Indiana Department of Revenue (IDOR).
- Schedule and coordinate hearings, send notices, and handle inquiries.
- Analyze and report tax offset appeal data annually.
- Research petitioner claims to avoid unnecessary hearings and process injured spouse requests.
- Analyze and maintain student bankruptcy records, update codes, and respond to inquiries.
- Screen and respond to attorney correspondence regarding student debt.
- Monitor and take action on returned refunds related to bankruptcy and tax offset.
Staff Management:
- Manage seasonal office staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance.
Process Improvement:
- Review and update the tax offset training guide annually.
- Ensure timely completion of weekly files from IDOR and posting of funds to student accounts.
- Identify and implement process improvements for tax offset and bankruptcy procedures.
