Day to Day:
Insight Global is seeking a Wheel & Wheel Trim Engineer to join an automotive client to sit onsite in Newark, CA or Southfield, MI. This person will design and develop wheels, wheel trim, inserts and center caps and other components from the initial concept to production. They will establish requirements for components based on desired vehicle attributes. They will complete component DFMEAs and DVPs, and contribute to system failure mode analyses. They will work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to achieve excellence in system and component design. They will coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for their designs. They will manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment and work closely with the design studio, CAE department, and validation team
This role can pay $45-75 per hour depending on years of experience and location.
Must Haves:
-5 years of automotive industry experience, mostly focused on design of wheels, wheel bearings, wheel inserts, wheel trim
-Personally designed components from concept to production
-Proven 3D CAD skills
-Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly
-Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection
-Project leadership and mentoring skills
-Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience
-Determine required tolerances using GD&T
Plusses:
-10 years of automotive industry experience
-Experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6
-Knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles
-Knowledge of NVH principles
-Ability to run CAE analysis tools
-Driven-vehicle attributes development experience
-Experience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory
