Construction Technician / Inspector

IG has an immediate opening for a full time Construction Technician / Inspector for our Pittsburgh, PA office, to provide a variety of geotechnical, civil, and materials testing services. The position is best suited for someone interested working in a fast-paced consultant environment, capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative design team.
Key Responsibilities
As part of an experienced team you will apply your testing and inspection capabilities to a variety of projects. Applicants shall have an educational or professional background in construction inspection services and have experience evaluating soil, concrete, asphalt and steel, as they relate to site and building construction. Report writing and computer skills are a plus. Experience in PennDOT procedures, airfield pavement construction, landfill construction quality control/assurance, and chemical soil modification is a plus.
Testing and Inspection responsibilities include:
- Field Exploration
- Laboratory Testing
- Maintaining required certifications
- Completion of daily field/data reports
- Ability to lift 30-40 pounds
- Coordinating with Existing Engineering and Professional Staff
- Overnight travel (occasional)
Requirements
- ACI and PennDOT field testing certifications [desirable]
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed [required]
- Report writing and computer skills [desirable]
- Valid Driver's license [required]
