MAJOR FUNCTION: The HIM Documentation Specialist is responsible for retrieving all paper medical records from various locations; prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality checking medical records; and for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all patients' medical records. The HIM Documentation Specialist applies these skills to all types of patient records, including but not limited to: Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room records. QUALIFICATIONS: Education Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two years medical record experience required. Minimum one-year clerical experience required. Experience in a Health Information Management department preferred. Experience in Cerner PowerChart and/or Cerner Kofax preferred. Experience with desktop document scanner preferred. Certification/ Licensure: N/A Knowledge Skills: Detail oriented. Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of medical terminology.
