What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oncology Clinical Navigation Specialist position at Inspira Health Network?
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Oncology Clinical Navigation Specialist will provide individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers throughout their Cancer journey from diagnosis through survivorship. The Navigation Specialist will work directly with our Oncology providers and serve as a consistent care coordinator and patient advocate, ensuring timely access and seamless transition across the oncology care continuum. Will be responsible to facilitate rapid scheduling, coordinate care across service lines and sites of care, identify and remove barriers to care, track patients to ensure compliance with treatment and surveillance plan. Provides patient and family education related to disease processes, as well as available internal and external support services and resources. The specialist will serve as a clinical expert in facilitating and delegating all care aspects. The Navigation Specialist will participate in our accreditations and ensure that compliance is met with our accreditation standards. Services provided will be billable in conjunction with the lead provider. Excellent communication and facilitation skills are required. An ideal candidate is self-motivated and demonstrates strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- BSN or obtain per policy required.
- 2-3 years of experience as a registered nurse with recent Oncology Nursing experience including the supervision and clinical coordination of cancer care to patients and families in an acute care setting or outpatient oncology practice setting preferred OR a strong clinical background caring for diverse groups of patients.
- Familiarity with multiple tumor types and oncology care is preferred.
Certification/ Licensure:
- Mandatory Navigation Training Competency & participate in Oncology Nursing competencies at time of hire.
- Valid NJ RN license.
- BLS required.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Nurse Navigation Certification through the (AONN) or like certification preferred and required within 3 years of employment.
