What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Data Analyst position at Inspire Brands?
Inspire Brands is seeking a Technical Data Analyst for our Cloud Datawarehouse that is built on data sourced from multiple Brands, data sources and domains. In this role, the candidate, while collaborating with various stakeholders, will be responsible for ensuring that the data is meaningfully presented at the consumption layer of the warehouse. The candidate will be expected to be proficient in SQL with experience of working in technology platforms like Snowflake, Databricks and SQL Server. She will be able to profile, analyze and share results across the team.
While she will work closely with the Data Engineering team and the Product Owner, she will also be collaborating with Data Governance professionals, Solution Architects and QA. The Data Analyst will have well rounded concepts on Data Quality and be able to create DQ rules for suggested implementation based on source system data analysis. She will also be working with Data Catalog specialists to provide definitions, transformation rules and business terms for updating the Enterprise Data Catalog.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Profile new data sources, primarily through SQL and open-source tools; Derive insights and share with the team
- Identify edge use cases, data anomalies, and outliers as an outcome of Data Profiling activity
- Capture definitions for all data elements being sourced and document them; Capture the grain of the data and work with Data Modelers to pass on the information
- Create Source to Target Mapping across multiple layers of data propagation: source to canonical layer to semantic layer
- Suggest DQ rules for implementation based on data analysis/data profiling performed
- Support User Acceptance Testing before releases
- Liaise with Product Owner for deployment co-ordination, business signoffs, and release notifications
- Update the data dictionary in the Enterprise Data Catalog
- Create and maintain business lineage maps in the Enterprise Data Catalog tool by working with the Data Catalog specialist
- Co-ordinate with multiple cross-functional teams and have good inter-personnel skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4-year degree in computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work
- Minimum 4-5 years as Data Analyst experience necessary
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a data warehouse environment.
- The candidate must have technical skills as contrasted from a Business Analyst with only requirement gathering experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, OR ABILITIES
- Experience working in a data warehouse environment along with experience in creating data mapping specification documents is needed
- Understanding of Data Quality concepts- data profiling, data cleansing
- Ability to propose DQ rules based on Data Profiling results
- Ability to identify edge use cases, data anomalies, outliers
- Should understand relational concepts in slowly changing dimensions in the context of Data Modelling
- Good SQL skills required- the ability to articulate how real-time data scenarios can be analyzed with SQL
- Skills in handling data from various sources in Excel, Access, and Word editors
- Knowledge of working with and analyzing CRM data, Customer Data, Loyalty Programs, and 3rd party data enrichment processes is a big plus
- Good communication and collaboration skills; Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic large program
- Experience in using a DQ tool is a plus
