Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Finance team who will be responsible for performing accounting related tasks for InspireNOLA. The Senior Accountant is able to provide clear, concise information between the finance department, the Network Office, and school administration.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Perform accounting functions in accordance with InspireNOLA standard procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This includes but is not limited to executing the following tasks:

Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Finance team who will be responsible for performing accounting related tasks for InspireNOLA. The Senior Accountant is able to provide clear, concise information between the finance department, the Network Office, and school administration.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Perform accounting functions in accordance with InspireNOLA standard procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This includes but is not limited to executing the following tasks:
- Prepare the Quarterly and Annual Financial Reports (AFR)
- Prepare responses to the Annual AFR
- Assist with annual external audits as directed by the Executive Director of Finance
- Review monthly Student Activity Funds bank reconciliations
- Oversee quarterly Student Activity Funds audits
- Review Invoices for weekly check run and cut checks
- Allocation of monthly benefits statements
- Analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for various accruals as well as ensure that month end estimates and required journal entries are submitted to the Executive Director of Finance and uploaded on a timely basis
- Update general ledger trackers to match the trial balance and reconcile
- Analyze and reconcile ledgers
- Review payroll prior to submission
- Prepare annual 1099s
- Record Deposits and Cash Receipts
- Issue stop payments for various bank accounts using the online banking portal
- Retrieve cleared checks for various bank accounts using online banking portal
- Review and approve expense reimbursements and travel requests
- General accounting responsibilities including, but not limited to, analyzing records for inconsistencies
- Resolve inconsistencies and other problems with accounting ledgers
- Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA
- Bachelor’s in Accounting (required)
- CPA Candidate preferred
- Five or more years of previous work in the field of accounting
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of information required
- Strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate multiple priorities required
- Strong time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Advanced level knowledge of Excel
