Disaster Relief Site Supervisor (Valdosta, GA)

The Site Supervisor position provides long-term recovery assistance, through home repairs, for survivors of disasters. This position is responsible for leading groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers in construction projects in disaster-impacted communities and may also include leading volunteers in muck/guts and mold sanitation jobs. The position will work with Construction Managers and other Site Supervisors during times when there are no volunteer teams to lead.

Position Details:

• Full Time employee, eligible for benefits
• Department – Disaster Relief
• Train unskilled volunteers in the safety of using power tools, ladders, hand tools and equipment (e.g., circular saw, miter saw, table saw, ladders, air compressor with pneumatic nailer, lifts, etc.)
• Communicate tasks and expectations clearly to team members, providing effective technical training and constructive feedback, when necessary, to ensure compliance with project safety and quality standards.
• Reports to Assistant Director, Disaster Recovery Projects
• Located in Valdosta, GA
• Monday through Friday: 8:30AM – 5:00PM, with flexible hours
• Some virtual with 80% local travel required
• Annual Compensation: $65,000

Responsibilities:

• Lead teams of staff and volunteers in residential construction and muck/gut projects; primarily interior work, interspersed with an occasional roofing project, ensuring positive experiences for volunteers and a high quality of work on the homeowner’s home.
• Provide daily safety orientation and ensure the volunteers are utilizing the proper PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) at all times.
• Teach unskilled volunteers construction skills such as: Framing, installing drywall, mud, tape and sanding, installing floors, baseboards, doors, door casings, kitchen/bathroom cabinets, countertops, sinks, tubs, tub surrounds and toilets.
• Ensure compliance with work scope and quality standards.
• Communicate material/tool needs to the Construction Manager on a regular basis.
• Maintain a folder of emergency contacts for the volunteers and locations/phone numbers of community emergency services and facilities.
• Input accurate records of volunteer hours, finances, and worksite updates of what has been accomplished and what is still to be completed in the Disaster Relief Resource Hub.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of OSHA 10-hour training certificate, first aid and CPR training.
• Prefer minimum of one-year experience overseeing residential construction in the US.
• Experience in leading teams of volunteers in a post-disaster environment.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills as well as good people skills and ability to work with groups of different ages, backgrounds, religious beliefs, and culture backgrounds.
• Must be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
• Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
• Ability to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment. 
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude while completing challenging work.
• To be considered, applicants must have a valid Georgia driver’s license required and pass a comprehensive background check, including work references and drivers record check.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to speak, listen, stand, walk, sit. Vision requirements include the ability to adjust from clearly seeing far to close. Also required to dexterously move hand, arms, body, and tools. Required to operate a personal vehicle and tools. Work in hot, cold, wet and possibly hazardous environment. Frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds.
