Key Responsibilities:
- Kubernetes Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters (on-prem or cloud-based) to support production and staging environments.
- Workload Deployment: Deploy and manage containerized applications, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance using Kubernetes resources (e.g., Deployments, StatefulSets, DaemonSets).
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Utilize tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack to monitor cluster health, diagnose issues, and resolve incidents promptly.
- Security & Compliance: Implement Kubernetes security practices, including RBAC, network policies, and secrets management, to safeguard the environment.
- Automation: Leverage Helm charts, Kustomize, or scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate cluster operations and deployments.
- Cluster Maintenance: Perform upgrades, patch management, and capacity planning to ensure cluster reliability and efficiency.
- Collaboration: Partner with developers to containerize applications and provide Kubernetes expertise, while supporting broader team goals in platform operations.
- Documentation: Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of configurations, processes, and incident resolutions.
- Platform Operations: Contribute to or advise on platform-level initiatives, such as CI/CD pipeline integration, service mesh implementation, or developer self-service tools, based on prior experience.
Skillset / Experience:
- Kubernetes Expertise: 3 years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Containerization: Proficiency with Docker or similar container runtimes.
- Cloud Experience: Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their managed Kubernetes services (EKS, AKS, GKE).
- Networking: Solid understanding of Kubernetes networking (e.g., CNI plugins like Calico, Flannel, or Cilium) and troubleshooting network issues.
- Tooling: Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and version control (e.g., Git).
- Problem-Solving: Strong debugging skills with tools like kubectl, logs, and metrics dashboards.
- Communication: Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Platform Operations Experience: Prior work on Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD), or service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
- Scripting Proficiency: Advanced skills in Python, Go, or Bash for automation.
- Certifications: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent.
- Broader DevOps Exposure: Familiarity with observability stacks, cloud-native tools, or platform engineering principles.
- 3 years in system administration, DevOps, or cloud engineering roles with a focus on Kubernetes.
- Proven track record of managing production-grade Kubernetes environments.
