The ATDM Metrology Lab Technician will require a driven individual to help prepare a metrology lab for instruction in an accelerated, short-term training program. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting with the delivery of instruction, lab set-up and tear-down, monitoring materials, and supplies, supporting curriculum development, and supporting student learning. This position may require travel and work on nights and weekends..
This role's primary responsibility is preparing the metrology lab for instruction and assisting during lab activities. Assisting in recruitment events may also be required. Lab assignments and other work activities may include days, evenings, and weekends.
The Metrology Technician can expect to facilitate classes on second-shift or third-shift hours. Your salary will include a shift differential based on the class times you are assigned to instruct.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Dimensional Inspection Career Studies Certificate (or equivalent) and significant related occupational experience.
- CAD software
- Microsoft Office Suite
- ASQ and/or ASNT certifications
- Teaching and/or industry training
- Hand tool and bench inspection
- Calibration
- CMM Operation and Programming
- Non-destructive Testing
- Lean and Six Sigma
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Shop safety
- Technical Math
- Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

Why is the position open?
Because of the growth of our campus through success in our many programs, we’re adding more instructors to our team. Due to the success of our Manufacturing Advancement team in executing the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Program in partnership with the Department of the Navy, this is a new position that is funded by a federal contract. The position is funded through June 2025. IALR will continue to request funding beyond 2025.
