Development Manager

The Institute for Human Services (IHS) is Hawaii's most comprehensive human services agency dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness. Manages the donor database, ensures data accuracy, integrity, and security of donor information. This position develops and executes the process for receiving, recording and acknowledging monetary donations, and creates opportunities to increase giving from existing donor base. The Development Manager works with the community relations and development team to achieve donor relations goals.

Compensation:

Starting from $58,000.00 annually, actual pay commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrate excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
2. Collaborate with the community relations team to steward activities related to fundraising and relationship management of current IHS donors.
3. Manage donation form design and process to maximize donor revenue; Manage the IHS donor calendar of events, and when appropriate plans, executes and coordinates event functions.
4. Work collaboratively with finance to manage budgets for events, ensure proper reporting/record keeping/reconciliation of all donations; create reports including but not limited to existing and potential donor research and tracking, event outcome/engagement statistics, Board Development Committee reports and other ad hoc reports.
5. Manage thank yous/donor acknowledgments and communicate with donors through various mediums, to drive donor retention and growth; Research potential and existing major donors as well as donor market segments to understand donor motivation and capacity.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of philanthropy processing and database systems to guide donor data infrastructure and reporting functions, strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Excel , Word, and Power Point.
2. Ability to work well under pressure and with multiple deadlines.
3. Able to foster positive relationships with current and potential donors, and work well with a team to promote strategic initiatives.
4. Possess personal qualities of integrity, patience and commitment to mission.
5. Flexible and able to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

Required Experience and Education:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
2. Two to three years of experience in working in fundraising for an organization or special projects and experience in data management.
3. Experience utilizing Virtuous or other CRM programs.
4. Demonstrated history of leading capital or development campaigns.

Expected Hours of Work:

Regular Full-Time classification. General business hours, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization.
