Block is looking for a talented and organized Benefits Operations Process Excellence Specialist (contractor) to support our People - Benefits Operations Team. This role will be responsible for developing and improving comprehensive process documentation for all aspects of the benefits operations function. This role ensures the accuracy, clarity, and accessibility of benefits processes, supporting operational efficiency, compliance, and team training. In addition, the role will help with any day to day tasks as needed. This is a temporary contract role reporting to the Global Benefits Operations Manager.

Benefits responsibilities include :
Process Documentation :
Develop and standardize clear, concise process documentation for benefits operations, including health, wellness, retirement, and leave programs.
Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflow diagrams, and user guides.
Ensure documentation reflects current policies, regulatory requirements, and system configurations.
Process Optimization & Quality Control :
Identify gaps, redundancies, and inefficiencies in existing benefits processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend process improvements and standardization.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement :
Partner with benefits managers, HRIS, payroll, and compliance teams to gather process information and requirements.
Work closely with third-party vendors and consultants to ensure consistency in documentation.
Ensure all documentation complies with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, HIPAA).
Maintain version control and archival systems for process documents to support audits and regulatory reviews.
2-3 years of previous Benefits Operations experience in the US (global experience preferred, but not required)
Experience using Workday HCM (Workday Benefits is a plus)
Familiar with JIRA Cloud or similar ticketing tracking system
Advance experience with google docs and Microsoft office a plus
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data
Passionate about developing efficient processes and driving results
Attention to detail
