Director of Surgical Services (Operating Room) - FT 8hr Days

Salary Range: 54.51 To 81.77 (USD) Hourly

POSITION SUMMARYDEFINITION Under general direction, and in accordance with the State of California Practice Nurse Act, plans, organizes, and supervises nursing staff; manages, reports on, and provides resources for direct patient care in the Surgical Services Unit as directed; and to perform related work as required.CLASS CHARACTERISTICSThis class reports directly to a senior level hospital management staff member and is characterized by having management and budgetary responsibility and control of major patient care units in the medical center.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducationPossession of Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.   Bachelor or Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.ExperienceThree (3) years experience in an OR settingOne (1) year of supervisory experience or demonstrate leadership and critical thinking skills as a registered nurse in an acute care hospital or non-acute health care facility.Licensure/CertificationPossession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of CaliforniaBLS and ACLS certification CNORKNOWLEDGE & ABILITIESKnowledge of:Nursing processes and its application to patient care.Licensure, accreditation and regulatory requirements.Personnel scheduling, performance evaluations, group dynamics, progressive disciplinary action, teambuilding and conflict management, problem solving and management techniquesClinical area managed.Hospital established policies, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures and Nursing Practice Act of the State of CaliforniaFederal, State, and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing.Abilities to:Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcome.Learn, follow, and direct compliance with policies and procedures and to develop and direct compliance with unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of care/practice.Complete and maintain reports and clinical records.Monitor critical practice indicators.Identify opportunities for improvement, and guide the implementation of action plan.Analyze and maintain budget accountability.Set, communicate, and monitor performance standards and expectations.Manage time effectively; make sound decisions using problem-solving skills.Use productive group dynamics to achieve teamwork.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.Keep abreast of developments in area of nursing specialization.Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.**This position is shared between South Coast Global Medical Center and Anaheim Global Medical Center**BENEFITS:Medical, dental and vision coverage is provided for all full time and part time employees*Medical is 100% employer paid including dependents*Employee Assistance ProgramBasic Life and AD&D401k plan with company matchGenerous PTO plan*Pet Insurance Discount Program*Employee Discount Program* *Per diem staff ineligible
