What's the Opportunity?
IMS is seeking an Application Architect to work in either our Skokie, IL or Kenosha, WI facilities. The role of the Application Architect is to design, develop, test, analyze, and support software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. The position will be the leader in designing and documenting solution approaches for the rest of the technical team. You will work closely with the Application Development Manager to achieve this outcome. This position will proactively interface with internal customers, project managers and business analysts, and the technical / programming staff to ensure effective definition and the delivery of business applications. You will split time between analysis / design and doing hands on development. This position requires both business hour and off hour support for all deployed software applications and processes.
Primary Responsibilities Include :
- Leading, organizing and communicating effectively.
- Design technical solutions to be used across the IT Department.
- Create technical estimates and manage to project designs and budgets.
- Use industry standard diagrams when designing solutions - Entity relationship Diagrams, Integration Design Documents, Process Flow Charts.
- Establish IMS standard Software Design Documents (SDD) with the Application Development Manager.
- Design, develop and deliver quality technical solutions that meet documented design requirements.
- Ability to create technical documents using Visio and PowerPoint.
- Ability to develop application solutions in an IBM i environment utilizing a mix of : RPG III / IV, RPG Free, SQL, and CL.
- Work closely with Application Development Manager, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and other IT associates to understand requirements, and in turn design and develop technical solutions.
- Lead technical design and review sessions with technical and business teams, with a focus on global solutions.
- Focus on designing and developing integrations using API and EDI formats.
- Setup and configuration of JD Edwards Dream Writers, Data Dictionaries and Menus.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting as needed, including occasional off hours support using BYOD.
- Adhere to IMS and SOX policies and procedures for compliance to ensure companywide consistent standards.
- Provide management with regular communication on the progress of projects and other initiatives.

Salary Range for this job is $115k to $135k - The salary range provided in this job posting is an estimate based on market data and internal equity. Final compensation will be determined based on knowledge, skills, experience, location, and other relevant factors, such as certain certifications that may be desired for this role.
