This position will have the opportunity to learn wastewater operations and has the possibility of promotion to Wastewater Operator Trainee.

Job Description
The Wastewater Utility Worker will provide site support including sampling, general maintenance and repairs, and housekeeping.
Essential Functions

- Collect and transport groundwater, surface water, and daily effluent samples.
- Assist in the general maintenance of the fleet.
- Support field operations including parts runs, traffic control, and general labor assistance.
- Maintain various work sites, equipment, and tools by performing general repairs, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping.
- Accurately and efficiently maintain paperless records including timesheets, logbooks, purchase orders, and receipts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of the safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of safe work practices under hazardous conditions.
- Knowledge of basic construction, repair, and maintenance methods, procedures, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including all Microsoft Office products.
- Must be able to work independently, without supervision or co-workers.
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in written language with coworkers, supervisors, and office staff.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
These demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The work is regularly performed both inside and outside in seasonal climates and weather conditions. Exposure to uneven ground, heights, and extremes in temperature, humidity, or wetness may be encountered. Exposure to excessive noise, biohazards, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals may be encountered. The employee will be required to wear and use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment/apparel as required, but not limited to, OSHA standards.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and bend; occasionally squat, climb, kneel, twist; repeated hand grasping, fine manipulation, push and pulling, reaching, and keyboarding with both hands.
The employee must be physically able to routinely lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally 100 pounds with assistance.
The employee must be able to swim proficiently without fear of large water tanks or holding areas.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are set upon hire. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires the ability to drive all company vehicles without limitations; including the ability to read a map or obtain driving directions independently and sit for extended periods of time driving long distances (up to 300 miles a day). The employee may also be required to pick up and deliver parts, packages, and equipment, or transport samples from client locations to laboratories.
Licenses and Certifications
Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
