Our client in Albany, NY is seeking a Grants Accountant to join their team! The position will pay $24-28/hr (depending on experience).
Overview:
The Grants Accountant ensures compliance with Federal and State regulations for federal grant awards and assists with contract closeouts. This role is responsible for tracking financial documentation, reviewing reports, and collaborating with agency finance staff and providers to resolve discrepancies and improve fiscal processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor compliance with Federal and State regulations related to federal grant awards.
- Track receipt of required documentation and follow up with internal fiscal staff and providers as needed.
- Review provider-submitted financial reports for accuracy and adherence to approved budgets.
- Work with agency fiscal staff and providers to resolve discrepancies in claims and identify problem areas or trends.
- Develop solutions to improve fiscal controls and processes.
- Assist in conducting special studies related to fiscal internal controls and process improvements.
- Prepare fiscal summary reports and analyses for Office of Mental Health (OMH) fiscal staff.
- Monitor expenditures and grant award statuses to ensure efficient and compliant use of funds.
- Assist agency finance staff in reviewing contracts and ensuring proper documentation before execution.
- Support the Contracts Team with claim reviews for annual direct contract closeouts.
- Assist with encumbrance-related assignments for direct contracts on a quarterly basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience).
- Two years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, economic or statistical research, policy analysis, or business/financial analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with federal grant regulations.
- Experience with federal grant claims and reimbursement processes.
