Brief overview
We are seeking a Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our machine shop. This role will require a focus on developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing processes while coordinating production times and staffing to ensure timely delivery. The Supervisor will play a key role in mentoring, coaching, and training team members in machine operations, best practices, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Development: Lead the machine shop team to operate efficiently and meet production deadlines, utilizing best practices for machine operations.
- Production Oversight: Oversee production to ensure optimal machine scheduling, resource utilization, and quality output.
- CNC Operations: Set up and operate CNC milling and lathe machines.
- Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the Process Supervisor and engineering team to develop manufacturability improvements for parts.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforce workplace safety standards and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement: Assist in resolving machine shop challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Team Support: Provide assistance in other areas as necessary to ensure daily production goals are met.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with team members, engineering, and other departments.
Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or GED; Associates degree in CNC machining preferred.
- Experience: 3 years of CNC Programming, preferably in FeatureCam.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of setting up and operating CNC machinery, including mills and lathes.
- Strong understanding of Fanuc machine controls.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet production goals.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physical environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
