Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Construction Designer to join our in-house design team. The Construction Designer is responsible for transforming client visions into functional and visually appealing design concepts for residential and light commercial construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of architectural design, construction materials, building codes, and drafting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and project goals.
- Develop design concepts, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using CAD software (e.g., Chief Architect, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit).
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and construction crews to ensure designs are feasible and align with budget and timeline expectations.
- Prepare and modify plans to meet client changes, structural requirements, and permitting guidelines.
- Research materials, finishes, and building codes to support project compliance and innovation.
- Assist in the permitting process by preparing and submitting documents as needed.
- Provide construction support during build-out phases, including clarifying design details for on-site crews.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, sustainable building practices, and local code changes.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Drafting, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience in residential or light commercial construction (or equivalent portfolio/work experience).
- Proficiency with design software (e.g., Chief Architect, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and materials.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Creative problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with the permitting process in Washington state.
- Experience working in a design-build environment.
- Interior design or space planning experience is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
